Chinese Club

An official University student organization, the Chinese Club of WVU holds regular meetings and provides the University and the community with cultural activities, including Chinese movies, cooking lessons, Mah-jong tables, calligraphy demonstrations, etc. Chinese Club is open to everyone, and Chinese language capability is not required.

Please email ChineseClub@mail.wvu.edu for information on joining our club or visit their website.

French Club

West Virginia University students join together to celebrate their common love of the French language and culture. Members need not be French majors or have an extensive knowledge of the language. Meetings are usually held bi-weekly on Tuesdays in the Mountainlair's Cacapon Room.

The French Club offers many ways to enjoy French and Francophone culture. Events have included:

  • French/Francophone Movie Nights
  • French Potluck Dinner
  • French Immersion Day
  • Various outings

Other activities the club and its members have taken part in include: Fall French Cabaret, the Spring Spectacular (for all foreign languages), a trip to the Pittsburgh Opera, African Movie Nights and weekly French Table meetings at Black Bear on Thursday nights at 7 pm. French Table meetings can be rather large gatherings of students, professors and community members who meet to practice the French language in lively conversations.
