Scholarships
The department offers scholarships to students who show financial need or academic merit. Some of these scholarships may be used to fund study abroad trips, while others may only be used toward tuition and fees. Please see the full description of each award as some awards have different application requirements.

Requirements

Must be a major in World Languages.

Must have a GPA of 3.0 in the language of study
and a 2.8 GPA overall.

Must demonstrate financial need and/or academic
merit.

Undergraduate Scholarship Application Online Form

A cover letter in which you introduce yourself
briefly and provide information relevant to the criteria stipulated in the
award descriptions (for example, information pertaining to financial need and
residency status).

Resume

A 300-word essay describing how you plan to use
your language in the future—written English.

All application materials must be submitted online, preferably in PDF format, to WLLLH&A@mail.wvu.edu. You may also direct any questions you have to the committee chair at the above address.
The committee will review applicants academic transcripts online.
Priority is given to upperclassmen and/or majors in upper-level language courses (300 and above).
You should not stipulate which award you are applying for, as this will be determined by the committee members.
Seniors graduating in May are not eligible for these awards.
Deadline
February 28 of award year (or, if the 28th falls on a weekend, then the following Monday).
