COURSE OFFERINGS

The Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics (WLLL) offers courses in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Russian, Spanish, Linguistics, and Foreign Literatures and Cultures in Translation.

IDEAL FOR DOUBLE MAJOR OR DUAL DEGREE

Students pursuing any undergraduate degree can easily complement their first major or degree with a WLLL major. Students can normally complete a double major or dual degree (e.g., B.A. and B.S.) without having to postpone their expected date of graduation.

STUDY ABROAD

We offer short-term study-abroad programs led by faculty and long-term exchange programs around the world in places such as China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Mexico, Peru, Russia, Spain, and Taiwan.

PLACEMENT EXAMS

The Department provides placement exams that help students receive college credit for what they already know. Students may be able to graduate earlier or save tuition fees by taking our language placement exams.

SCHOLARSHIPS

WLLL majors can apply for merit- and/or need-based scholarships and awards every spring. Generous funding is also available to support study abroad.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

WLLL graduates have secured employment in a wide range of fields. Our students gain the cultural knowledge and language skills sought after in educational institutions, service industries, publishing, entertainment industries, and multinational corporations. Foreign language competence is also in high demand in other areas such as medicine, law, business, journalism, and government work.
