Scholarships and Awards
Each year, the department grants a limited number of awards with teaching stipends to selected students. These are available in French, German, Italian, Spanish and occasionally in other areas. Teaching assistantships are also offered to selected students specializing in the teaching of English to speakers of other languages in the WVU Intensive English Program.
Meritorious teaching assistants are eligible on a competitive basis for a supplemental award through the Higher Education Resource Fund. Tuition waivers and scholarships are also available for qualified candidates.

The department sponsors study abroad programs during the summer in France, Germany, Mexico and Spain. Qualified students in French may compete for the Marguerite Eynard
McBride Award, which funds an academic year in France. Year-long exchange
programs are also available for France, Germany and Spain. Grants are available
on a competitive basis through the department, the Eberly College of Arts and
Sciences, and through the Office of International Programs to assist students
who wish to study abroad.
Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant
