Marguerite Eynard McBride Award

The Marguerite Eynard McBride Award in French was established through a bequest from Professor Arthur C. McBride in memory of his wife.  It is intended to promote the study of French and must be used for a program of study abroad.  

Recipients of the scholarship must be undergraduate majors in French or graduate students who are in one of the following categories at the time of their application:

  • A graduate student in French who plans to study abroad in France for one year. 
  • A graduate student teaching French at WVU who plans to participate in study-abroad program in France/French-speaking country for at least a month.
  • An undergraduate French major participating in year-long study abroad in France or French-speaking country.    
  • An undergraduate French major participating in semester-long study abroad in France or French speaking country.    
  • An undergraduate French major participating in month-long study abroad in France or French speaking country.
*Please note: The application process for the McBride Award differs somewhat from that of other WLLL scholarships in that no letters of recommendation are required, and your cover letter must stipulate that you are applying for the McBride. If you are applying for funding for a semester or a year, you must also include a budget and a description of the university and specific program in which the you plan to enroll.
