Robert J. Tallaksen, MD

Lecturer in Classics; Professor of Radiology, Medical Education, and Internal Medicine

Dr. Tallaksen completed a BA in English at North Carolina State University, an MD at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an MA in Medieval Art History at West Virginia University.

Dr. Tallaksen is the Chief of Cardiothoracic Radiology in the WVU School of Medicine.  He has been a Lecturer in the World Languages Department with responsibility for the first two semesters of Latin since 2008.  He has received the Distinguished Teacher award for the WVU School of Medicine and the WVU Foundation Award for Outstanding Teaching.  In the School of Medicine he has also received the David Z. Morgan Mentor Award and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society as a faculty member.  In the Department of Radiology he has served as Vice Chairman both for Clinical Operations and for Education and as director of the residency program.  In the School of Medicine he was interim Assistant Dean for Medical Education and for WVU Hospitals he has served as Vice Chief and Chief of the Medical Staff.
