Frank Herrera Scholarship Fund

The Herrera Scholarship was established by Mrs. Mary Betty Herrera to honor her husband’s work as an educator at WVU. Mrs. Herrera, herself a teacher of languages, hopes the scholarship will assist students with backgrounds similar to her husband’s.

Students applying for a Herrera Scholarship must demonstrate

• Financial need
• A major in World Languages
• A 3.0 GPA in the language of study, and a 2.8 GPA overall

Preference will be given to students who demonstrate

• Native Spanish-speaking ability
• Foreign-born status
• WV residency

In the event no foreign-born student with native Spanish-speaking ability applies, a qualified student majoring in WVU’s Spanish program may be awarded this scholarship.

Grant money may be used for study abroad.
