Undergraduate experience

Do you want to help others in your local community or even around the world? World Literatures, Languages and Linguistics is a well-rounded major that can prepare you for a variety of careers.

Our close-knit department allows you to receive a specialized education while using the world as your classroom. We prepare students with knowledge needed to understand the contributions, perspectives and experiences of a variety of cultures.

Our students frequently study abroad in both native language and English-speaking programs, giving you an immersive experience that goes beyond what can be learned in the classroom.

You may select from six areas of emphasis (three language areas of emphasis in French, German, and Spanish; and three language studies areas of emphasis in Chinese studies, Italian studies and Russian studies) to complete a bachelor of arts in world languages. The interdisciplinary Latin American studies program also offers a bachelor of arts.
